Course Objectives

First Aid skills can be the difference between life and death for a workmate, family member, a stranger on the street, or even yourself. This course is essential whether it’s needed for your workplace, a club, another setting, or simply for personal reassurance.

First Aid is more than a useful skill, it could also help save a life and lessen the severity of injuries.

Our comprehensive course will provide you the knowledge, skills and confidence to assist someone who is ill or injured until professional medical assistance arrives. The course covers the DRSABCD action plan, resuscitation techniques (including defibrillation), managing asthma, anaphylaxis, and various other injuries and illnesses.

This unit is a mandatory requirement for security officers in the security industry, as stipulated under the Security and Related Activities (Control) Act 1996, enforced by the Police Security Licensing Branch of Western Australia.

Course Content

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to an individual in need. It is applicable to all workers who might need to offer first aid in various contexts, such as in the community or workplace.

The First Aid unit, HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, holds national accreditation, equipping participants with the qualifications to act as First Aid representatives in numerous work environments and other necessary situations. The training we offer is intensely practical, concentrating on real-life Safety Scenarios that can be applied practically.

This Unit of Competency (UoC) is specifically designed for individuals who need first aid training as a requirement in their workplace, as well as members of the public interested in acquiring first aid skills.

It is particularly relevant for those either preparing to enter the security industry or currently employed within it, who need to renew or update their first aid qualifications.

Career Outcomes

This  qualification will be suited to the following job roles:

  • Workplace first aid officer,
  • Anyone currently employed or seeking employment within the Australian security industry
  • Refresher training in CPR should be undertaken annually and full first aid qualifications should be renewed every three years.

Course Prerequisites

  • Must live in and have a Western Australian residential address.
  • Participants must exhibit proficient language, literacy, and numeracy skills appropriate for this level. An LLN (Language, Literacy, and Numeracy) assessment might be necessary during pre-enrollment to determine if the candidate needs LLN support for this course.
  • Participants have the option to complete an LLN assessment with a certified assessor before finalising their enrolment in this program.
  • Basic to intermediate computer proficiency is also required for entry into this qualification.
  • 100 points of identification.

USI Number Requirements:

All students engaged in nationally accredited training from January 1, 2018, are required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Visit the Government USI website here for additional information and to create a USI.

How Is The Course Delivered?

Delivery will be conducted over one eight hour day. The program may allow for some flexibility with time and include suggested work activities which can be conducted on-site, or in a simulated work situation if needed; this will be done in consultation with stakeholders prior to commencement.

Participants will have access to our highly skilled and industry-experienced Trainer, who will offer guidance to help you meet your study objectives within your desired timeframes. Additionally, the Trainer will be available throughout your study period to answer any queries or assist with any challenges you might face.

Course Structure

The course is a combined delivery structure and comprises a pre-course online component followed by our 1 day in-class or 2 evenings in-class practical course. The pre-study consists of multiple-choice questions which can be done on paper or online.

Pre-study takes on average 3-5 hours. 95% of students prefer the online method (as opposed to attending another day) as it is convenient and cost-effective

The course delivery combines structured tutorials, workshops, case studies, videos, practical assignments, and workplace application. It includes both individual and group work, along with assessment activities conducted throughout the course.

The trainers and assessors responsible for delivering our course are accredited experts in their respective fields. They hold the requisite qualification(s) to deliver this course and meet the relevant professional experience requirements in line with the 2025 Standards Credential Policy.

Assessment

For obtaining a nationally recognised qualification, participants must successfully complete the pre-course assessment, practical assessment, and written assessments. Detailed information about these assessments will be included in the course materials.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID011 Provide First Aid Training. This statement can be utilised to apply for credit transfer towards an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification.

Recognition of Prior Learning – RPL

Recognition of Prior Learning is available to persons who have prior experience in the construction industry, have held a construction card issued previously or from another Australian State.

The assessment for RPL is carried out through a comprehensive portfolio of evidence, a workbook, questions, and written scenarios to support your application for RPL. More detailed information about the RPL process will be provided before enrolment with one of our training assessors. During this process, you and your Impact assessor will evaluate if there are any needs for additional training. If required, you can opt to undertake this through the completion of individual units, which may incur additional fees.

Course Fees

Fee for service – $150.00 for all, plus $165.00 for Saturday classes.

RPL – $150.00 ($150.00 non-refundable deposit on enrolment) excludes gap training

Refund, Cancellation and Deferral Policy

CORE Training Group is committed to providing clear, fair and transparent arrangements for fees, refunds, cancellations and deferrals. The following policy applies to all students enrolling in fee-for-service training courses unless otherwise stated in a funding agreement.

Course Deposits

A non-refundable deposit may be required to secure your place in a course. This deposit covers administrative costs associated with enrolment, course preparation and reserving your place in the program. By paying a deposit, you are confirming your commitment to participate in the course.

IMPORTANT:

Please be aware that this course is only available to participants residing in Western Australia. Enrolments from outside WA are not eligible, and no refunds will be issued in these cases.

Additionally, we are not CRICOS registered and therefore cannot deliver security training to international students on a study visa. If you enrol while holding a study visa, you will not be eligible for a refund.

Cancellations by CORE Training Group

If CORE Training Group cancels or reschedules a course and is unable to offer a suitable alternative date or delivery method:

  • A full refund, including the deposit, will be provided; or
  • Students may opt to defer their enrolment to a future course date at no additional cost.
  • Student-Initiated Cancellation

If a student wishes to cancel their enrolment:

  • More than 7 days prior to the course start date: A partial refund may be granted, excluding the non-refundable deposit.
  • Within 7 days of the course start date or after training has commenced: No refund will be issued, except in cases of compassionate or compelling circumstances, assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Deferrals and Transfers

Students may request to defer their enrolment or transfer to another course date.
