The Hospital Security course is tailored for individuals aiming to work in a healthcare or hospital setting. It’s important to note that a Certificate II in Security Operations does not adequately prepare you for employment in such environments.

Healthcare clients frequently express concerns about untrained staff arriving on-site, often lacking clarity on their expected roles or how to handle healthcare and mental health emergency situations. 

Workers in the healthcare sector are more likely to encounter workplace violence than in any other industry. Therefore, having security officers who are well-trained and prepared is crucial for ensuring the safety of both workers and patients.

This course serves as an introductory programme to healthcare security and safety. It outlines the role of security within a healthcare organisation and focuses on managing high-risk situations. Developed to meet the specific needs of our healthcare clients, this course provides a solid foundation of skills and knowledge for those starting work in the healthcare or hospital environment.

Participants may be a minimum age of 18 years to attend and hold a Western Australian Security Licence

Must live in and have a Western Australian residential address.

Demonstrate good language, literacy, and numeracy skills. Our courses utilise plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners have the best chance of understanding the required knowledge and developing the skills necessary for their job role.

The Hospital Security course is structured as a combined delivery programme, consisting of a pre-course component followed by a five-day (8 hours each day) in-class practical course.

The course is designed to offer flexibility in delivery and personal choice for learner attendance. To utilise this course as a pathway to employment, it is essential to complete the first four days. This is because the practical activities and assessments are concentrated on the fourth day.

The pre-course study typically requires 8-10 hours, depending on the individual student’s personal circumstances and other commitments. This pre-course training should be completed prior to the face-to-face training where possible. Completion of the course is contingent upon the submission of this homework.

The Hospital Security course is delivered through a blend of structured tutorials, workshops, case studies, videos, practical assignments, and real-world applications. Both individual and group work activities, as well as assessment tasks, are integral parts of the course.
