The course is designed to provide the fundamental knowledge and skills required for strategic risk management. It is important to note that the course does not aim to cover every aspect of Risk Management planning and implementation, but rather focuses on the essential elements needed to manage risk effectively in a security management context.

• Must live in and have a Western Australian residential address.
• Applicants must demonstrate basic language, literacy, and numeracy skills suitable for this level. A Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) assessment may be conducted before enrolment to determine if the applicant needs LLN support for this training.
• Participants have the option to undergo an LLN assessment with one of our qualified assessors before finalising their enrolment in this qualification.
• Participants are expected to have a strong background in the Security Industry, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience
• Basic to intermediate computer skills are also required for entry into this qualification.

The Certificate IV in Security Management course will be delivered over a minimum of 12 weeks, involving 12 days of classroom attendance, each day consisting of 8 hours of face-to-face delivery.

An initial 12 days of classroom attendance is required to start the course for those who are not seeking Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for any units of competency. This phase is crucial for delivering the initial course content. Students are also expected to engage in unsupervised learning activities, which include developing a Security and Risk Management plan, to ensure the completion of the required supervised hours.

The total nominal training hours for this qualification amount to 482 hours. This is divided into 192 hours of supervised instruction and 300 hours of unsupervised activities, primarily focused on the development of a Risk Management Plan.

Recognising the high-stress and fast-paced nature of many industries, the course is designed to be flexible. It is delivered through a combination of one day per week face-to-face sessions and self-paced work on a final project throughout the course duration.

A training and assessment diary may be initiated at enrolment or upon completion of the face-to-face phase to ensure you stay on track with your course completion. This approach allows you to complete your qualification regardless of your current circumstances or time constraints, from anywhere in Australia. You may also be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Throughout your study, you will have access to our highly qualified and industry-experienced Trainer. They will provide guidance and assist you with setting completion timeframes for each unit to align with your study goals. Additionally, the Trainer is available throughout your study period to answer any queries or assist with any challenges you may encounter.

This qualification is delivered over a minimum period of 80 hours of student-trainer contact as mandated by the WA Police Licensing, Security Services.
